- South Tyrol has many libraries with historic objects, most of them not indexed. In 1997, the Südtiroler Sparkasse Foundation started a project for cataloging and making them available in a central online public access catalogue. Extended subject indexing will be done for Tyrolean literature. Cataloguing is done by librarians of the cooperative Bibliogamma, using RAK-WB ("Regeln für die alphabetische Katalogisierung in wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken") and RAK-WB - Alte Drucke ("Regeln für die Katalogisierung alter Drucke"). The data is stored on a server of the Free University Bolzano and will be available via the homepage of the Provincial Library Dr. Friedrich Tessmann in the future. Via interlibrary loan, books can be ordered and used in the Provincial Library. Additionally, the Provincial Library plans to advise the owner libraries in book processing and data maintenance.
