- The newly added building of the Library of the University of Łódz and the system of open access to library shelves recently implemented in this building, have radically changed the organization of library interior and resulted also in re-organization of circulation and information services. Traditional ways of accessing library materials as well as library processes (closed stacks) was integrated into one complex system with modern technologies. The library implemented wireless access to the Internet and multi-station access to electronic sources of information (also from outside of the library or university network) as well as access to systematically growing collections of scans and microfilms of selected library resources in a newly created reading room. The cooperation of subject librarians with readers and faculties has had its first effects. Changes introduced by the library are appreciated by its users as important improvements facilitating their scholarly activities, what is proved by statistics from the years 2006 and 2007.
