  • This paper deals with the issue of free access to information. The main purpose of this paper is analysis of a repository "InfoMine" - Scholarly Internet Resource Collections in the context of information ecology. Open Access Initiative has recently become the subject of debate between researchers, academics, librarians, administrators of universities, funding agencies, government officials, publishers. The work consists of 3 main parts. To introduce the subject a short story of the Open Access movement is given. The second part presents "InfoMine" considering content types and sources available, search options and facilities for the user - the portal usability, innovation and creativity of the repository. An analysis of this kind provide us some conclusions about InfoMine in the context of information ecology which will be the third part of the paper.
