- The implementation of new information and communication technologies changed radically the form of education and the ways for its provision. The academic libraries today aim not only to support the educational procedure but also to be a significant part of it by producing, and assessing educational material and by providing continuous learning opportunities and guidance to its customers. All these factors have created a whole new situation for the academic libraries and forced them to expand their functions but above all to develop new electronic services and tools for information provision which will render them as equal partners in the educational procedure within the institution they operate. The University of Macedonia Library received founding under the 3rd Thira was initially published in January 2007 containing 311 databases. Until August 2008 it contained 455 electronic resources such as databases, electronic journals collections, e-books collections and other electronic sources of information selected under the selection criteria stated at its initial design face. Operational Programme for Education and Initial Vocational Training under which it developed a series of services and tools. One of those was its Subject Gateway, Thira. One of the project’s basic parts was the development of a statistical analysis tool to assess its usage in terms of quantity. The tool was created by using Google analytics.
