- The intellectual property law affect the activities of academic libraries. Particularly in the transition from analogue to digital century when libraries are trying to exploit the digital presentation of the material to the public. A number of issues arise. Clearing the rights of digitized projects is not always easy, and already looking solutions at European level to address the phenomenon of «Orphan» works. At that stage of the process of digitizing there are always cases which are often challenging financial or moral right of the copyright or related rights. A key role is the digital management and protection of digital works which is emerging as a safety net which would reconcile the need for effective protection of intellectual property rights with the need for the widest possible public access to the intellectual wealth of academic libraries.
