  • The use of information can contribute to the planning, building, and consolidation of actions aiming the improvement and updating of organizations and individuals. The present article has analyzed the use of information by researchers of Londrina State University (Universidade Estadual de Londrina – UEL) in functional foods specialty with the purpose of detecting the most relevant kinds of information for such researchers. In order to obtain the results, forty-three questionnaires were analyzed. The results point out that scientific literature is the type of information mostly used by researchers, who retrieve and access it through “Portal de Periódicos da Capes” (Capes’s Periodicals Portal). Information proceeding from events, about researchers and of researches, are also given a lot of value too, and Internet is the most used resource in retrieving and accessing these kinds of information. In this study, it has been ascertained that such information subsidizes the development of activities and is able to promote actions that take to innovation.
