- In the Architecture area, the increasing demand for information generated in the last years, added to the lack of a strategical plan that enables the dissemination of information, has resulted in most cases, in the unsatisfactory use of the main channels of information broadcasting in this specific area. Thus, the objective of this work is to describe the establishment and implementation project of a digital library in the IAB – Instituto de Arquitetos do Brasil - with the purpose of making all the informational material available for the community of architects as well as preserving the historical and visual memory of this institution. This way, it will be possible to guarantee the storage and the retrieval of digital objects and the communication services in order to meet the informational needs of its users. The project also incorporates the information concept into a network form, that is, it offers access in specific places and remotely, by means of a computer network. The information related to the Architecture area would also be inserted in the space of activities connected to information.
