- Academic libraries do play a vital role in education as well as in research. The increase in knowledge production within libraries establishes their role both in organizing and evaluating of their services. The role of assessment in academic libraries will re-define their objectives in terms of user needs. The findings of this study will be important not only for understanding user needs, but also to secure the quality of a dynamic academic library. For reasons mentioned above and upgrading its services, Library and Information Centre of Harokopio University (LIC) moved forward to this research which examines the evaluation of its services which will help in the covering of any deficiency. This project is a part of the multi-disciplinary project “Enhancement, Modernisation and Enrichment of the Academic Library of Harokopio University” under the Operational Programme “Education” which is co-financed by the European Social Fund, the European Regional Development Fund and national resources. The assessment project had been planned to materialize in two phases from an external evaluator. This study will describe the methodology followed during these two phases and will present results as well as conclusions and recommendations.
