  • This thesis is divided into three parts and a final catalog which is the product of research. The first chapter provides an analysis of the role of novohispanic printing in the sixteenth century as part of the cultural heritage of our nation, stressing the importance of conservation and protection in Mexico. The second chapter presents the theoretical elements that support the research, mainly concerned with literature and with some technical aspects of hand printing, to finally address, in the third chapter, to the introduction of printing in the New Spain, printers of the sixteenth century and mexican bibliographies covering this period, led by the work of Joaquin Garcia Icazbalceta that is the basis of the catalog.
