- Text mining and knowledge discovery have become necessary tools to cope with the threat of information overflow that comes form the continual growth of published biomedical literature. The presentation introduces to text mining and presents the mining of a collection of 413 discharge letters of heart failure patients. The research was carried out at Uboldo Hospital (Cernusco sul Naviglio - Milan - Italy). Its aim was to evaluate the informational content of the discharge letters in comparison with standard ACC 3.2 of Joint Commission International. Text mining was used as a method to evaluate the continuity of information as a part of the continuity of care.
