- The purpose of this work is to provide a new vision about the academic library’s concept, conceived as ecosystem, space of learning, experimentation and expression. This is a theoretical discussion, that has as base the evolution of paradigms in education and the consequent change in the design of library. Taking as reference the Knowledge Society, there is the emergence of a new perspective about library organization, now understood as an organic set of agents and resources that can manage competences, capacities and specific productive chains 2 related to information, knowledge, and learning. University library no longer presents as informational unit, but is itself as an ecosystem of learning, experimentation and expression. Thus, becomes an essential part of university’s reality, in constant interaction with other ecosystems. The study wants to move in considering the establishment of new spaces and library services that promote its revitalization. In the end of the work is presented a list of suggested actions for the implementation of these organisms and their sustainability in university environment.
