- OpenCms is an open source website content management system, based on Java and XML technology, distributed by the company Alkacon Software under license LGPL. Although other open source management systems that allow more speed of execution, like Drupal or Joomla, based on PHP, OpenCms is a good solution to develop complex applications, like in the Barcelona Athenaeum’s website <http://www.ateneubcn.org >, that integrates three subsites -general, library and creative writing programme. The wide range of possibilities that OpenCms allows in the development of website projects is explained: integral management of the subsites, management of users, templates and workflow, usability, scalability, content publishing and syndication.
