- The management of an academic library system implies coordination of libraries and staff, in order to better meet learning and research needs.The paper examines the Italian Academic Library System and the issues related to the organization and the management of university libraries within the framework of a structured and coordinated system. The paper touches upon the role of the library system in the Italian universities, analyzes the various critical issues, the lack of perception of the importance of libraries in the Italian academic context and ends with some proposals.
