  • This work was the first comparative study between formats bibliographic data entry, in this case: The Argentine Joint Document Format (FOCAD) and the Worksheet Bibliographic Description (HDB) and Worksheet of Content Analysis (HAC) of ECLAC-CLADES. Both were widespread in Argentina, towards 1987, where this work was presented during the seminar format for entering information to bibliographic databases, Buenos Aires: 11-13 November 1987). As a result of the debate emerged in the wake of this work, a task force to improve the user's manual of the Argentine Joint Document Format (FOCAD), which would involve several major institutions. As a result, amendments were made to the manual of this format, taking into account the reservations and objections to focus identified in this work. Moreover, this document has been used as background in research on characteristics of formats bibliographic data entry work in various theses and final degree. Therefore, now offers the same in digital format, as a contribution to the literature of historical interest in Librarianship and Documentation. Despite that, currently, is imposing the MARC21 over the two formats analyzed, they are still widely used in libraries Argentine (in its original form or with adaptations to local needs). This study compared the formats of Foca and the Worksheet Bibliographic Description (WBD) and the Worksheet of Content Analysis (WCA) of ECLAC-CLADES. It identified the fields that are compatible and which ones are not. Proposed format WDB/WCA as a standard format for use by all libraries Argentine give reasons that led to making this recommendation. The authors will be played at that time in the Library of the National Academy of History and the Library of the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC), which had already chosen to use HDB / HAC instead focus for the burden of bibliographic data in their databases.
