- In Latin America and the Caribbean, electronic publishing and Web publishing of social science books and journals responds more to particular needs of this region -because of difficulties in accessing the printed copies, low average of printed copies, nearly non-existant inter-library loans because of high cost of postage, etc.- than to the dynamics of the international academic editorial business. In this chapter are described present modalities of full-text books and journals dissemination vía Web, in institutional websites as well as in the Red de Bibliotecas Virtuales de Ciencias Sociales de América Latina y el Caribe de la Red CLACSO (Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales).
