Libraries, archives and documentation centres are threatened by the large deterioration in their collections, since most of these are increasingly fragile and some are in danger of being lost forever. This is due to several reasons: instability inherent in the chemical components of these centres informational materials, environmental conditions (natural disasters and climate), and theft of material. In this article shows an outline of the importance of reproduction, binding and restoration of documents as part of the collective memory and the launching of the "workshop reprography, bookbinding and restoration of documents (TREYR)" in the Department of Humanities at the Autonomous University of Mexico State.
