La relación entre las palabras clave aportadas por autores de artículos de revista y su indización en las Bases de datos ISOC, IME e ICYT

- The keyword provided by authors in their scientific articles and the descriptors assigned to those articles in various data base are analysed to find out the role played by this key-words during its indexing process. In order to do that, 108 periodical publications proportionally distributed between Science and Humanities (36 journals), Science and Technology (36) and Medical and Health Sciences (36) were selected. Ten articles were selected from each of the 108 journals divided in different years, so that we worked altogether on 1080 articles meeting two conditions: including keywords and being indexed in the data bases ISOC, ICYT and IME. Then, we proceed to draw a comparison between the keywords used by the authors of the 1080 articles with the descriptors assigned by these data bases indexers. The comparison shows that in the IME data base 64,96% of the keywords provided by the authors exactly coincide with the descriptors or just do so after normalization; in ISOC the 60,48% and 58,18% in ICYT.
