- The European Library Portal is a central access point for searching online catalogues and digital collections of European national libraries. Technical environment is built up to the latest standards for Web, taking in consideration differences in technical environments for digital collections of individual libraries. The following topics are considered in this paper inclusion of collections in the Portal, metadata (with respect to FRBR) collection descriptions, different character sets in order to provide multilinguality, as well as Web services offered by the Portal.
