- The goal of this paper is to present the digitization project of Aristotle University. The material is consisted of the following categories: a) original digital material, and b) printed material that is being digitized. The first category includes the current phd dissertations from all Departments of Aristotle University, the second category is concerned with the digitization of articles, book reviews from the newspaper and magazine collection. Selection and acquisition policy, copyright clearance issues, formats and all the technical details for the treatment of the documents, as well as the bibliographical description standards, are presented. Criteria and procedures of software selection and adequate setting of parameters are discussed. Short description of the selected software and characteristic examples are presented. Special references to the results of the project, the new services, the upcoming problems and the selected method for resolving are included.
