  • What’s wrong with the humanities? Most of their academics – at least those writing in French, English or Italian - seem reluctant to join the open access movement, or even the blogosphere, as if they feared public exposure. Meanwhile, lots of research in the hard sciences can be found outside the traditional publishers’ enclosures. Such openness is for the greater good, according to a recent survey. Still, non expert users and especially journalists, need a dose of esprit critique which the humanities could and perhaps should supply, it will be argued.
