- One of the factors that speed up and facilitate the development of a wide range of communication–related issues in science and the humanities is the idea, in line with the Open Access philosophy, of building up repositories. The article presents rules and advantages resulting from repository-based scholarly communication and draws attention to legal issues concerning circulation of materials held at repositories that are protected by copyright. It gives an overview of different types of repositories.
