- A concise presentation of ethics' history and her development from the antiquity up to today. Are reported the efforts for the creation of ethics' codes in the Librarianship, in the Information Science and in relevant to them sectors. Are presented the reasons that led to the creation of ethics' codes, the questions that they try to regulate, the reflection on the necessity of their existence and the dilemmas that face the information scientists in the modern societies. Are impressed the energies of international organisms as the UNESCO as well as big librarianship unions (ALA, BLA, LA, IFLA) as well as the position that they have formulated on professional ethics' issues. Finally, are presented examples from practices that are applied in the information units and the modern reflection on the revision of various codes.
