Daftar Isi:
- The present article suggests a comparison between the Ranganathan's PMEST categories and the categories of Vaisesika - one of the six orthodox schools of Indian philosophy - which is devoted to the analysis of the basic components of perceptible reality. Similar categories are present within the Indo-European linguistic and cultural context in different ages and regions. They seem to be strongly grounded in our worldview. Some considerations about the role of categories both as foundation of the knowledge structure of a certain culture and as possible signs of a deeper biological and cognitive dimension of the human being are also made.
