  • The ancient organs are securely part of a cultural heritage. So, their value is expressed through different activities of protection, from scheduling to research and restoration. The province of Parma is a place rich of musical traditions and the art of the organ building has been developed everywhere and with original characteristics. OrgaNET, promoted by the Provincial Administration of Parma and the Soprintendenza per i Beni Storici ed Artistici, foresees the implementation of a digital library, accessible on the web, that describes this patrimony in a very innovative way. The so-called "digital convergence", allows the creation of tools for the valorization of the cultural heritage; OrgaNET offers the possibility to create a document system based on the card created by the Soprintendenza, including pictures and videos of the instrument and, above all, the sound recordings: a data always lacking in the rare web pages about organs. In the job plan, scholars of different disciplines are involved and a descriptive card, with many points of view, has been carried on, for different kind of users, from the simple observer to the organology scholars. So, a database of this patrimony that describes the situation of the conservation of these organs, taking advantage from the digital resources, has been created. The OrgaNET plan, then, is not placed exclusively in the net, but many related activities are foreseen, from education/training to the promotion of concerts and conventions.
