Daftar Isi:
- The purpose of this paper is to investigate the current library services for people with disabilities in Greece and their information seeking behavior and study both libraries’ and users’ perspective in this field. Furthermore, it reveals the results of a survey which was conducted by sending questionnaires to Greek libraries, including parameters such as: - availability of alternative format material - adaptive technologies - outreach services - accessible resources - accessibility policy - disability awareness training among the staff - the level of their library services, etc. After presenting the major findings of this research, this study outlines the international situation describing library services for people with disabilities in Europe, Asia, USA and Australia and some noticeable and paradox situations that have been reported in the library field (for example students that have abandoned their studies because their library has been totally inaccessible). Last but not least, this paper ends with a number of recommendations that might improve this situation.
