  • The Bologna Process (the process started after the Bologna Declaration of 1999) provides the key policy framework for the reform of higher education in Italy. Facilitating the recognition of qualifications at European level is an important element of this process, to allow Italian information professionals to transfer their qualifications from one education system to another and to compete successfully in a European labour market. The article reviews Italian achievements in the academic recognition of qualifications and highlights the issues that still need to be solved, as the cultural change from traditional education framework to a new one, based on collaboration and quality assurance.
