- How has the role of consortia evolved in Italy since the advent of Electronic Resources ten years ago? What challenges will they face? The presentation highlights organizational solutions and strategies set up by consortia in order to take an active part in the process of change that scholarly communication is undergoing that include: the introduction of new business models (as alternatives to the Big Deal model), easing the transition towards e-only models, national level negotiations, actively supporting the Open Access models and initiatives. The presentation also reports some of the initiatives born out of the new collaborations with libraries, publishers and subscription agents to develop permanent archiving of E.R. and innovative approach to licencing contracts.
