- How archives, libraries and biographers will handle digital personal documents in the future poses a challenge to library science, archival science, literature, information technology and jurisprudence. The paper gives an overview of digital autobiographic genres such as personal websites, online diaries, ePortfolios, and so-called lifelong capture systems currently being developed. When using these documents as biographic sources, it is essential to manage the evaluation of relevance and authenticity, data protection, and data storage, and to find a way of coping with the sheer flood of digital data.
