- Public libraries must modernize and transform itself in order to take advantage of its full potential for lifelong learning since that promotes social integration, the active participation of citizens, creativity and socio-economic development of the current multicultural communities. The learning is closely related to the development of basic skills, knowledge and skills related to information management and management through computer media (information literacy and digital) that librarians must acquire in order to teach after the first. It highlights the need to organize learning from the library in coordination with other institutions in the community to develop a stable. These theoretical aspects are illustrated with some good practices of public libraries as centres of learning.
