  • This research is based on the low students learning outcomes in economic subjects which are shown by the average result of PAS academic years 2018/2019 which is less than the Minimum Criteria (KKM) students of class XI IPS Public Senior High School in Bogor City. This research aims to determine whether the self directed learning have a role mediate the effect of teacher competence on learning outcomes. The populations in this research were student of grade XI IPS Public Senior High School in Bogor City which amounted 904 students. By using the technique of random sampling and proportional random sampling obtained a sample of 277 students. The method used in this research is an explanatory survey and data analysis technique that analysis regression multiplier with mediation model. The result show: (i) teacher competence are in the high category; self directed learning are high category; and learning outcomes are partly in categories under KKM; (ii) teacher competence positively influence the outcome of learning (iii) self directed learning have a partial mediate the effect of teacher competence on learning outcomes. The implications of this study are (i) teacher competence and self directed learning should be increased to improve learning outcomes students. (ii) when learning outcomes students want to increase should be better teacher competence in order to enhance student self directed learning so that the result of increased student learning.
