The reesearcher found some problems that faced by the students in teaching writing. They had difficulties in writing English, such as; they confused to express their ideas in written form, and they difficulty to find their ideas, develop their ideas, and write English sentence. It could be the reason of the students had low writing skill because they have minimum practice, confuse to write English correctly, and practice of teaching writing itself. Based on the reasons, the researcher intends to make research using Card Sort Strategy. Through Card Sort Strategy, the students learn about the process of writing as they plan and write together with the support of their teacher. The strategy in this research was interaction. It is exchane information and ideas together. So, the students and the teacher could help each other to solve their problem and also makes them becoming more confident. &#xD; This research, is designed in classroom action research. The subject was the students of the eight grade of SMPN 1 Ponorogo in the aacademic year 2014/2015 which consisted of 32 students. The research was started on February 25th, 2015, until March 2nd, 2015. This research conducted in two cycles. For collecting data the researcher used observation checklist, questionnaire, and test. &#xD; Based on the result of this researche, it was seen from the improvement of criteria of success of students&#x2019; score from 62.5% in cycle 1 up to 100% in cycle II. The questionnaire result showed that students enjoyed, interested, and become active during teaching learning process. &#xD; Finally, some suggestions for English teacher and the next researcher were offered. For the English teacher are suggested to implement this strategy and make innovation and creativity to implement various kinds of teaching strategy in the writing class.
