  • Background:Stroke has a high mortality rate as the third diseases that cause death in the world after heart disease and cancer. Stroke prognosis depends mainly on the presence an absance of medical complication. One of the risk factors for complication of stroke is age. Objective: To determine the relationship between age and stroke complications in the intensive care unit Hospital Dr. Kariadi. Methods: This study is an analytic observational research using cross sectional design (cross sectional). The data collected was secondary data such as patient medical records in the intensive care unit RSUP Dr. Kariadi from 1 January to 30 June 2014. Then the data obtained edited, coded, tabulated, and entered into a computer and the calculated frequency is then shown in the table. Results: The results of this study were obtained 34 samples. Patients aged0 to11 years as many as 5 patients, aged 12 to 25 years as many as 0 patients,aged 2645years as many as 4 patients, aged 46-65 years as many as 16 patients, patients aged> 65 years as many as 9 patients. There were complications in 20 patients. and theChi- Square test value p = 0,124. Conclusions: There is no significant relationship between age and stroke complications in the intensive care unit RSUP Dr. Kariadi. Key word: age, complication of stroke, Intensive care room
