  • Abstract Tamarind leaves contains some composition which make it can use as biocoagulant. The composition intended are active substance like Tannin and Saponin which can use killed microbe shaping colloidal solution. In addition to active substance, Tamarind leaves contains protein which use as particle of turbidity caused. Study on the effect of tamarind as a coagulant with various of rapid mixing and various of coagulant doses in order to reduce concentration of Turbidity, TSS and BOD, and COD from tofu wastewater using coagulation-flocculation process were experimented. Tofu wastewater pH conditioned to 6,5 and the operation variables were the coagulant dosages (2 gr/100ml, 2,5 gr/100ml, 3 gr/100ml, 3,5 gr/100ml, and 4 gr/100ml aquadest for each sample) and rapid mixing (100 RPM for a minute, 125 RPM for a minute, 150 RPM for a minute, and 175 RPM for a minute) and data were analysed graphically. The results showed that the optimum dosage of tamarind leaves as coagulant was 3,5 gr/100 ml followed by a minute of rapid mixing at 125 RPM which could removed 91,0% of turbidity, 84,1% of TSS, 31,0% of COD, and 77,92% of BOD. Based on the result, Tamarind leaves are effective if used as coagulant for tofu wastewater treatment.
