- ABSTRACT Water is one of the most important for agriculturaldevelopment. Surface wateris a main source for the supply of irrigation water. However, not all agricultural land can be supported with technical irrigation water sourced from the surface. The amount of groundwater use continues to increasewhich in turn influences the balance of the aquifer. Ground water is the source of water supply is very important, especially in areas with long dry season, related to dryness of the surface water. The presence of ground water is not constrained by administrative boundaries of an area, therefore the management of groundwater resources requires widespread holistic, and comprehensive thinking. There is a trend of an increase the utilization of ground water that have to be inline with the management and conservation of ground water. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of community-based management of ground water for irrigation rubber nurseries that have been implemented in the Pangkul Village Cambai District Prabumulih City.The method that used in this study is the focus group discussions. focus groups with respondents of farmer groups in the community include community participation in the planning, construction installation, implementation, utilization, monitoring and evaluation. From the results obtained that the management of ground water for irrigation in the rubber nurseryhad already well implemented. Community participation in planning and development phases are in the informationlevel of participation. community participation in implementation and utilization phases are inthe delegated power of participation. And the monitoring and evaluation phases are in therapy of participation. Keywords: Groundwater, function management, community participation.
