- Background : Delivery by vacuum extraction and forceps aims to help complications in delivery processes, so it can reduce the risks of maternal and infant mortality, however delivery with actions has an impact on maternal and infant morbidity. This study aims to determine the maternal characteristics with vacuum extraction and forceps in RSUP Dr. Kariadi. Methods : This was descriptive study by collecting secondary data from medical records of maternal with vacuum extraction and forcep. The data were described in frequency tables. Result : there were cases with vacuum extraction deliveries were 133 (95.68%) and forceps were 6 (4.31%) of 139 deliveries. Maternal characteristics deliveries with vacuum extraction involve the age between 20-35 years, primipara, interpregnancy interval ≤ 5 years, pregnancy complications include heart disease, hypertension, history of caesarean section, eclamsia, and the majority is referral cases. For mother delivery with the forceps has characteristics as follows the age between 20-35 years, primipara and multipara, interpregnancy interval ≤ 5 years, pregnancy complications include heart disease, eclamsia, diabetes mellitus, and the majority is referral cases Conclusion : This descriptive study shows that in RSUP Dr. Kariadi vacuum extraction delivery more done than forceps extraction.
