  • ABSTRACT The pollution of groundwater is a very serious problem because it causes water quality decline. Especially in coastal cities such as Semarang, seawater intrusion is one of the sources of pollution to groundwater salinity resulting in high ground water, in this case identified by the concentration of chloride (Cl) derived from sea water through the mass transport chloride (Cl) on groundwater and the volume of groundwater quality standards appropriate to be very limited. Some researchers on ground water in the city of Semarang as IG.L. Setyawan Purnama (2004), to identify and analyze the quality of groundwater, and the factors that cause salt water in the soil, M. Irham N, Reyfana T Achmad, Sugeng Widodo (2006), mapped the distribution of salty ground water in the aquifer, and Setyawan Purnama, Andri Kurniawan, Sudaryatno (2006), examines a model of groundwater conservation. The purpose of this research is to build a model of seawater intrusion in groundwater in the city of Semarang with the development of the mass of contaminant transport models chloride (Cl) in the ground water through advection and dispersion processes. Parameters to be the main causes of the seawater intrusion in groundwater is groundwater flow is influenced by the soil and water additive tides (rob), retardation of soil and soil porosity. Sampling of ground water in the aquifer using grid sampling and modeling using numerical methods with MATLAB programming. The results of this research can be one tool to predict the level of sea water intrusion in the city of Semarang. Key Words: chloride (Cl), mass transport models
