  • Background: Acinetobacter is one of negative gram bacteria which often contaminates and has already became an epidemic all over the world. The irrational use of carbapenem can caused Acinetobacter resistance. This research aimed to analyze if the use of CVC, malignancy, the use of carbapenem, the use of cephalosporin group III, hospital length of stay, intensive care is one of the risk factor of Acinetobacter resistance and also to analyze if carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter sp. influences the mortality. Method: This is an observational analytic study with cross sectional data retrieval. A total of 42 patients who acquitted to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, done by taking the data from the medical record. Result : During January 2009-March 2011 period there are 29 patients (69%) are infected by carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter sp. and 13 patients (31%) are infected by carbapenem-sensitive Acinetobacter sp. Bivariate analysis shows that the use of carbapenem (p = 0,018, OR = 1,684, 95%CI = 1,265-2,243), intensive care (p = 0,026, OR = 5,6, 95%CI = 1,307-23,996), the use of CVC (p = 0,007, OR = 12,857, 95%CI = 1,474-112,170) are risk factors of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter sp. infection. Multivariate analysis shows that CVC assembly is a risk factor of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter sp. infection. ( p = 0,023, OR = 13,333, 95%CI = 1,434-123,989). Bivariate analysis shows that carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter sp. infection does not influence the mortality (p = 0,453, OR = 0,605, 95%CI = 0,162-2,259). Conclusion: CVC assembly is an independent risk factor of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter sp. infection. Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter sp.infection does not influence the mortality.
