- Transformation of economic in Central Java reflected by exchange sectoral share at PDRB. Industry sector become sector that give large contribution at PDRB in Central Java bearing down other sectors. Industry in Central Java mainly is small and middle industry that in great quantities. One of industry small and middle industry that potentially to expanded is industry manufacture of metal. Industry manufacture of metal is industry that need more attention by government because this industry have tight dependability inter industry subsector in horizontal or vertical. According to department of cooperation, commerce and industry regency Klaten, subdistrict Ceper constitute one of area that have industry manufacture of metal that 45-50% prop up national requirement. This industry important and necessary to researched because this industri became one of supplier to other region in shape of semi finished product or finished product This research aim to analyze competitiveness in industry manufacture of metal in Ceper. This research use four analysis, the first PEST analysis, second five force Porter Analysis, third SWOT analysis, and the last Cobb Douglas Production Function analysis with stochastic frontier. Result of research with first analysis is according PEST analysis, result general image and problems in industry manufacture of metal in Ceper. Second, SWOT analysis is ascertainable strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in area of industry manufacture of metal in Ceper and then combinable with matrix that result of the best strategies that can used by government to make a policy that supporting industry manufacture of metal in Ceper. Third, according of five force analysis, factor bargaining power of suppliers, bargaining power of buyers, Threat of new entrant, dan Threat of substitute products show favorable competitive environment for industry manufacture of metal in Ceper, whereas factor existing competitive rivalry between competitors show negative situation. Fourth, according of Cobb Douglas Production Function analysis, all of variables have significant value. In this research, test of return of scale (RTS) is 1,627. This show that product of manufacture metal is increasing return to scale (IRS). The production input that not efficient are iron and labour, whereas the production input not yet efficient are aluminium, brass, sand, and production equipment.
