  • Background: Prevalence of Soil Transmitted Helminthes (STH) infection among primary school students in Indonesia is still high because awareness in keeping hygiene is still low. Objective: This study was aimed to assess the correlation of personal hygiene status with prevalence of Soil Transmitted Helminthes infection at SDN 03 Pringapus. Method: This was an analytical observational study with cross sectional design. The subject of this study is student of SDN 03 Pringapus and fifty six students of them have fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Data were collected by interviewing via questionnaires for knowing their hygiene status and examination with Kato-Katz method for detecting worm eggs on feces. Data were processed with SPSS 15,0 for Windows using Spearman test. Result: The results showed that 10,7% of fifty six students were infected with STH which from questionnaires and observational results of students personal hygiene were found 7,1% students with poor hygiene. Spearman test showed for questionnaires results were found p=0,019 (p<0,05) by means of there was a significant correlation of personal hygiene status with prevalence of Soil Transmitted Helminthes infection. For observational results were found p=0,037 (p<0,05) also by means of there was a significant correlation of both of them. Conclusion: There is a significant correlation of personal hygiene status with prevalence of Soil Transmitted Helminthes infection at SDN 03 Pringapus Keyword: personal hygiene status, prevalence of STH infection.
