- BACKGROUND: Scabies well-known as “gudig” is common skin disease among students of Qor’an schools. It is caused by infestation of mite of Sarcoptes scabiei that spreads easily from human to human, from animal to animal,or from human to animal. OBJECTIVE: To measure whether there is effect of personal hygiene towards prevalence of scabies at An-Najach Qor’an school in Magelang METHOD: This study was designed as a cross-sectional observational study. With survey method. research population is all Junior high school grade student lodging at An-Najach Qor’an school in Magelang and sample research is totalizing te research population as much 100 students. Questionnaire was used as technique in collecting data.and data was analysed by using chi-square statistical test. RESULT: From 100 samples the results of this study showed that 43 students (43%)suffered from scabies and their status of personal hygiene: 42 students(42%) have poor personal hygiene, 55 students (55%) have moderate personal hygiene and 3 students (3%) have good personal hygiene. From bivariat analysis with chi square methods p-value = 0,000 CONCLUSION: There is significant correlation between personal hygiene with prevalence of scabies Keywords: scabies, personal hygiene
