- Background : Nigella sativa oil has anti-hyperglycaemic and antioxidant activity, which are possible to improve sperm count in diabetic mice. In this research, we used alloxan which induced diabetes mellitus. The purpose of this research was to prove the effect of Nigella sativa oil to improve sperm count of diabetes mellitus mice. Methode : This was an experimental research with Post Test–Only Control Group Design. The subjects of this research were 25 mice divided randomly into 5 groups: Group K- as negatif control. Group K+ was only induced by alloxan. Group P1, P2, and P3 were induced by alloxan and given Nigella sativa oil with dose 0,1 ml/day; 0,2 ml/day; and 0,3 ml/day. Treatment was given in 12 days. Result : There was significant difference in sperm count between groups that showed in Oneway ANOVA test. Post Hoc test showed there were significant differences between group K+ and P1, between group K+ and P2, and between group K+ and P3. Conclusions: The administration of Nigella sativa oil in mice showed a significant improvement in sperm count. Keywords : Nigella sativa, spermatozoa, diabetes mellitus.
