  • Background: Monocrotophos is one type of dangerous organophosphate and commonly used for agriculture. This compound caused a lot of lead poisoning due to ignorance of the farmers who use them. Lung is one organ that also suffered damage from the poisoning, but research on monocrotophos poisoning has never been done in Indonesia. This study aimed to assess lung histopathologic picture Balb / c are given a dose of monocrotophos story orally. Methods: The experimental research design with post test only control group design. Samples of 20 male Balb / c which is divided into four groups. K is a control group who were given only distilled water. P1, P2, and P3 is the treatment group were given a dose of monocrotophos 1/10x15mg/KgBB, 15mg/KgBB, and 10x15mg/KgBB. The provision made through sonde and observed for seven days. On the eighth day of termination is to take the lungs and observed histopathologic picture. Results: The mean score of the level of damage to the wall with the highest lung P3. Score is the percentage of damages assessed bronkhiolus wall or lung alveoli. Kruskal Wallis test showed significant difference (p = 0.002). Continuing Mann Whitney test showed no significant difference in the K-P1 (p = 0.114). At K-P2 (p = 0.021), K-P3 (0.009) showed significant difference. In the P1-P2 (p = 0.059) there is no significant difference, and the P2-P3 (p = 0.028) showed significant difference. Conclusion: monocrotophos caused histopathologic changes in the structure of the lungs of Balb / c starts at lethal doses. In the tenth time lethal doses found no significant histopathologic changes. Keywords: Monocrotophos, multilevel dose, histopathology of lungs.
