  • Friction Stir Welding is new method of welding process. The advantage of this methods is FSW can to joint Aluminum Alloy that can't be joined by fussion welding. FSW process is depend on 3 parameters, that are : welding speed, tool rotation and tool's pressure. This research aim to investigate the effect of welding speed on crack growth rate. Welding process was carried out on turning machnine that be modified on cross slide. Variation of welding speed are : 2, 4, 6 mm/s on tool rotation 1050 rpm. The tests were performed in a room temperature with a constant load amplitude and the load ratio was maintained to be 0,1. The load frequency was adjusted form 1 — 11 Hz. Crack propagation tests were carried out on 1.4 mm thick of plate Al 2024—T3 center crack tension (CCT) specimens transversal butt joint based on ASTM E647 standart. The result of this research shown on 1050 rpm rotating tool, highest Paris constant 00 is 3,6857 on welding speed 4 mm/s.
