  • The implemented NiKaNa method on analysis functional group of low carbon steel has been studied using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy. The hardness degree of the steel by NiKaNa method is tested using Rockwell method. The result shows that the NiKaNa method is possible to increase the hardness value of low carbon steel until about 552 % for heating 9000 C and duration time 15 minutes. The result of FTIR spectroscopy shows that on NiKaNa steel is seen more addition of N-H functional group. This fact support for a past result of X-ray diffraction was got the existence of Fe-N bonding in Fe2N compounds. So that the existence of addition in functional group to being NiKaNa steel harder than nontreatment steel because atomic structures more dence and solid.
