  • Abstract Optical properties of water and NaCl solution in an external magnetic field B have been identified. A maximum external magnetic field of 0.49 T is produced by 6625 turns of coil with maximum current 5 A. The interaction of 5 mW, 633 nm, He-Ne Laser with the sample in B leads to change of polarization angle, β of the electric field of light. In case of water, the experimental result is in agreement to the literature value, where the uncertainty lies between experimental errors. For various NaCl-solution concentrations, we have proved that the change of polarization angle varies linearly to B. Inti Sari
