  • Along with the birth of the reform era and the enactment of the Regional Autonomy Law Number 22 of 1999, it has changed all of the rules that is from centralization (top down) to be decentralization. Center government has been providing the widest possible authority to the regions government to manage their own households in building their respective areas by accommodating and optimizing all available resources in the area. In fact, the efforts of decentralization or schools autonomy have championed by the education community for a long time. The reason is that the centralization system has not relevant to the present context of Indonesia’s population that is more complex. Therefore, autonomy of education must be rightly applied if the education in Indonesia want to be more progressive and equal -even more than– with the developed countries and be accepted by them. By decentralization, schools are encouraged to develop itself with more flexibility towards to be better. In addition, decentralization is a new challenge for schools that have been particularly affected by opium of lulled by the government, such as new public schools. The schools are now required to create a curriculum that fits their own circumstances and implemented by itself, no longer supplied by the center.
