  • This research focused in the application of the illocutionary act on the speech of Kevin Michael Rudd when he delivered the speech about the apology to the stolen generation. The writer formed three statements of the problems; finding the types of illocutionary acts which occur in the speech, analyzing types of illocutionary acts containing the apologies of Kevin Michael Rudd, and the and analyzing the way the speech delivered. The theories used to do the research are speech act, illocutionary act which contains Representative, Directive, Commissive, Expressive, Declarative, and the theory of the political speech. By using the descriptive qualitative method, the writer described the application of the types of illocutionary acts in each utterance in the speech. Thus, the writer analysis resulted in the finding of all types of illocutionary acts in the speech and the representative as the most frequent type used.
