  • This resesarch was aimed to find out the effect of Start with Simple Simple Stories Extensive Reading (SSS ER) method on students’ reading comprehension achievement in narrative text. This study used the experimental design. The population of this research was all students of class VIII of MTs Lab IKIP UMN AL-Washliyah Medan. The sample of this research were taken from 40 students of experimental group (class VIII-1) and 40 students of control group (VIII-3). The instrument for collecting data by using multiple choice tests which consisted of 30 items. After analyzing the data, the writer got; The value of tobserved was 2.21 and that of ttable was 1.994. So the value of tobserved was higher than that of ttable. It means that there was significant effect of using Start with Simple Stories Extensive Reading (SSS ER) method on students’ reading comprehension achievement.
