- The purpose of this research was to find out how the implementation of Race to the Board Game to improve students’ ability in memorizing countable noun vocabulary. In constructing this research, the researcher collected data from the classroom action research, which was carried out through four steps. They were plan, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 40 students at eight grade students of MTSAl-Washliyah Tembungin academic years 2017/2018.In doing this research, the technique of analyzing data was applied by using qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data was taken from interview, observation sheet, questionnaire and documentation. The quantitative data was taken from the test. The result of analysis showed that there was development on students’ ability in memorizing countable noun vocabulary. In the pre-test, there was 9 student (22,5%) who got up to 80. In the post test in cycle I, there was 20 students (50%) who got up to 80. It means there was improvement about 27,5%. In the post test in cycle II there was 35 students (87,5%) who got up to 80. The improvement was about 37,5% and the total improvement of the students’ score from pre-test to post test of cycle II was 65%. From the data above, it indicated that the implementation of Race to the Board Game to improve students’ ability in memorizing countable noun vocabulary was effective and suitable to be applied on improving students’ ability, especially countable noun vocabulary. In addition, the students were more active, comfortable and enjoyed teaching learning process.
