  • Human resources can not be denied is one of the most important asset for the advancement and development of a company. PT. Ampel Jaya is a stevedoring company in the port of Tanjung Perak Surabaya. Judging from the level of employee absenteeism PT. Ampel Jaya in Surabaya, showed indications of a lack of low levels of satisfaction, so that employees are more likely to opt for skipping work. Based on the above, the authors wanted to examine about the influence of compensation and motivation to job satisfaction of employees at PT. Ampel Jaya in Surabaya. Population of this study is the number of employees amounted to 36 people in the PT. Ampel Jaya in Surabaya. The sampling technique was saturated sampling, in which all members of the population sampled. Methods of data collection using the questionnaire. Data were analyzed with multiple linear regression. Results of calculations using multiple linear regression analysis simultaneously indicates the significant influence between compensation and motivation on employee job satisfaction with the indicated value of F arithmetic (6.542)> F table (3.28). While partial compensation has no effect on job satisfaction of employees with the indicated value of the t (0,004) ≤ t table (2.03452). Then motivation is partially affect the job satisfaction of employees with demonstrated value t (3.612)> t table (2.03452). The independent variables which give effect to that motivation, then that does not affect that compensation.
